Facilities Management
The Broker Resource Facilities Management offering allows
your company to retain the expertise of an information technology professional "on your
staff, but not on your payroll".
Three separate functions are available. Each one addresses one area of the on-going process of
maintaining an efficient and viable information technology environment.
Facility Audit:
The Facility Audit is a one-time event. One of our professionals
will record all items and features of the current computer environment. The list will include
each hardware unit and any extra components with make, model, serial number, warranty, warranty
contact, age, usage by volume, and usage by application. All software will be listed with make,
version, warranty, help desk contacts, maintenance contract level and expiration date. Each
software module will have a cross reference showing installation by unit. All communications
lines and equipment, including telephone lines, cable TV links, DSL/ISDN links, and network
hubs will be listed with vendor, vendor contact, service contract or warranty and expiration
date. Computer related corporate policy and procedures will be referenced, including the disaster
recovery plan, the daily computer operations procedures, the daily user interaction procedures,
and the policy and procedure for safeguarding confidential customer information. A recommendation
for changes and upgrades is produced.
One-Time Development/Update Projects:
One-Time Development/Update Projects to create or update
critical corporate documents, such as a complete disaster recovery plan, day to day computer
operating procedures, day to day user procedures, and customer confidentiality policy and procedures.
Each project is guided by a project plan with defined deliverables.
On-Going Facilities Management:
On-going Facilities Management includes execution of all
of the periodic tasks related to a smoothly operating information technology environment. Your
facility manager (FM) would attend management meetings where operational change is at issue
and would provide advice and recommendations. The FM would develop long and short-range information
technology plans, cost/benefit analyses for computer hardware and software purchases and recommend
vendors; install and configure new and upgrade software and hardware as well as handle warranty
maintenance issues; review the computer operating environment and recommend changes. The FM
would ensure that the backup process is working correctly, and that the backup is restorable;
maintain computer equipment by vacuuming the inside, reseating boards, archiving old files,
deleting obsolete files, uninstalling obsolete software, defragmenting hard drives, and disposing
of obsolete equipment; train users on computer operational procedures as well as computer application
navigation. The FM would maintain the disaster recovery plan, computer operating procedures,
and user application interface procedures and stay abreast of the latest hardware and software
technology within the general business category.
Cost of Services:
The cost of these services will depend upon the company’s status of
the inventory lists, policy, procedures, equipment condition, quantity of equipment, and
quantity of software modules. We would like the opportunity to discuss your specific needs.
